46% of construction product manufacturing firms, on balance, reported that sales rose during the first quarter of 2019. 58% of heavy side product manufacturers and 68% of light side product manufacturers reported that they anticipated sales rising over the coming year. Cost increases were reported by 77% of heavy side manufacturers and 59% of those on the light side. Raw materials, fuel and wages & salaries were the key drivers of cost inflation in Q1. Capital investment intentions for structures and plant & machinery were muted, however, notably on the heavy side.
