Activity slowed across the majority of the construction industry in Q2, according to the Construction Trade Survey. Growth in sales, output or workloads was reported by SME builders, heavy side product manufacturers, specialist contractors and civil engineers, although balances for the latter three were significantly lower than in recent quarters. Furthermore, zero balances were recorded for light side product manufacturers’ sales and main contractors’ output, showing that the proportion of firms reporting an increase was matched by the proportion of firms experiencing a fall.
