Construction Industry Forecast Winter 2019/20

TRADA image

Activity in the construction industry was buoyant during the first half of 2019, particularly when compared on an annual basis as construction activity in the first half of the 2018 was adversely affected by unseasonal poor weather; persistent rain in January 2018 and snow in February and March 2018. Construction activity in the first few months of 2019 was also boosted by good weather. CPA forecasts over the past 18 months were highlighting that activity during the second half of 2019 was likely to be lower than in the second half of 2018, which had benefitted from a catch-up in activity after the poor weather earlier in the year.
