RESEARCH STUDY OF TIMBER BUILDING COMPONENTS

The Ministry of Technology has placed a £15,000 contract with John Laing Research & Development for a study into the use of factory-produced timber building components .. Members 'of FPRL staff will be collaborating in the project, and TRADA will be retained as consultants to John Laing for part of the work. Special emphasis will be placed on the features of design which are necessary to ensure satisfactory performance, and on reconciling these with the necessity for use of production techniques which are cheap, quick and efficient. It is hoped that the results of the study and subsequent discussions with the industries concerned will lead to the development of a new Code of Practice.
