TTF is major sponsor of TRADA Student Design Competition
TRADA is delighted to announce that the Timber Trade Federation has come on board as the major sponsor of its Student Design Competition.
The final presentation and awards for this year’s competition – dubbed CO2nnect – will be held on May 22 at the central London offices of the Institution of Structural Engineers, the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in structural engineering.
The judges for this year’s competition are: Charlie Law of Sustainable Construction Solutions; Carol Costello from Cullinan Studio; Andrew Wylie from Buro Happold; Timbmet’s Simon Fineman; TRADA’s Rupert Scott; and Simon Smith from Smith and Wallwork.
TRADA is also pleased to welcome additional sponsors Timbmet, Mitek, Lonza and StoraEnso in what promises to be an exciting year for the annual competition.
This year’s competition challenges students to think about the wider issues surrounding carbon sequestration and the possibility of re-using timber modular buildings.
Students face a challenging brief to design a modular timber panel system that can be easily transported for re-use. They will be competing for the top prize of £1,500 plus recognition of the industry of their innovative design. Total prize fund for the competition is £3,000.
The deadline for entries into this year’s competition is April 13th, with shortlisting taking place week commencing April 24th.
