A new pocket guide for on-site managers, combining expert knowledge from TRADA and the Structural Timber Association, offers high quality guidance, diagrams and checklists for on-site inspection.

TRADA’s much-lauded book Site check: The timber frame pocket guide - hailed by experts as a ‘valuable tool’ for the construction industry - is now available to buy at the TRADA Bookshop.

TRADA and the Structural Timber Association (STA) have combined their expert knowledge to produce a single-source, ‘best-of-both’ guide, which can be easily consulted by on-site management.

Small in size but significant in stature, Site check: The timber frame pocket guide is invaluable for those responsible for high quality workmanship, imperative when the burgeoning timber frame sector has grown at almost twice the market rate in one year alone.

From timber frame delivery and storage to installing a breather membrane, insulating and damp-proofing to masonry cladding and roof framing, the guide is packed with high quality guidance and diagrams, as well as handy checklists for on-site inspection.

TRADA’s Rupert Scott says: “TRADA is delighted to collaborate with the STA to provide the timber industry with a single source of timber frame advice.  The timber frame market is enjoying spectacular growth, providing a golden opportunity for those operating in this sector.”

Andrew Carpenter, Chief Executive of the STA, said: “With a shared objective to enhance the standards within the structural timber sector, our collaboration with TRADA brought together the technical expertise of two of the timber industry’s leading organisations.”

“Quality management should be an end-to-end process – from the sourcing of raw timber and offsite manufacture in well-managed factories to the final on-site installation. The Site check pocket guide is an asset to site managers and, although it’s concise, the information will play an important role in refining on-site quality controls.”

Site check: The timber frame pocket guide will also be available to buy at TRADA’s stand G1 at Ecobuild 2018, which runs from 6th to 8th March at Excel, London.

Generous TRADA member discounts of 35% apply to all books purchased at Ecobuild plus there’s also an exclusive show offer of £5 off when spending over £25 at the TRADA Bookshop.

There will be an opportunity to meet the book’s author when Robin Lancashire, TRADA’s Senior Timber Frame Consultant, takes to the stage to talk about Site check: The timber frame pocket guide on Thursday 8th March at the newly refurbished Timber District.

TRADA’s highly-regarded Timber 2018 Industry Yearbook will also be available to collect from stand G1 and features a broad cross-section of articles on a wide range of timber-related topics written by some of the country’s leading experts.

Our friendly team of technical experts will be on hand to discuss any timber-related query. Topics could include anything from timber frame construction to engineered timber, panel products to EC5. Visitors to the stand can simply drop by or get in touch to make an appointment by emailing membership@trada.co.uk
