Browse our books: Stand T145
Visit the TRADA stand to browse an extensive and wide-ranging collection of free Wood Information Sheets, Case Studies and Research Summaries, covering all aspects of timber design and build. Some of TRADA’s enduring bestsellers, such as Timber frame construction, will also be available to purchase at the TRADA Bookshop, which – thanks to a show discount of £5 off when you spend £25 or more – you can now add to your collection for less.
Take advantage of our introductory show offer and save £50 when you join up as a TRADA member during the event or check out a sample of the upcoming Timber decking: The professionals' manual 3rd edition, full of updated information and images, which will also be on the stand for your perusal.
TRADA’s University Engagement Programme: Stand T50
Admire the top designs and models from TRADA’s 2018 University Challenge, Urban Buzz, including the understated winning entry that is reminiscent of rice terraces in China.
Next year’s University Challenge competition promises to be even bigger and better, with students challenged to design exemplary Student Accommodation predominantly from timber. Ask for Tabitha Binding, TRADA’s University Engagement Manager, who will happily chat to students and lecturers interested in furthering their timber knowledge.
Technical Timber Zone: Stand T150
A variety of our timber experts will be on-hand to answer your questions throughout the show; simply come prepared with your timber-related question in mind! Our friendly team will try and answer every one – from timber frame construction to engineered timber, panel products to EC5 – or put you in touch with someone who can. You may like to book an appointment via firstname.lastname@example.org.
But that’s not all: Test the extent of your own knowledge of strength grades or wood species by participating in interactive quizzes. Up to £150 worth of Amazon vouchers are available to be won.
Installation from the Royal College of Art: Stand T260
Grymsdyke Farm, a Buckinghamshire-based research facility, fabrication workshop and living-working space for architects, artists and designers, will provide the ideal venue for an enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary team of students to create an installation for display at Timber Expo 2018.
TRADA, in partnership with the Royal College of Art’s School of Architecture, Hanson Plywood, Timber Expo and Grymsdyke Farm, have joined forces to bring their expertise, specialist knowledge and products to a ten-day intense design and make workshop from 15–23 September.
Led by Manja van de Worp, tutor (Structures & Technology) in the School of Architecture at the Royal College of Art, the project brief is a cross-disciplinary investigation into flexible construction systems for housing using plywood panels. Experts have set the bar high, with tight timescales designed to encourage students to roll up their sleeves and guarantee maximum learning.
