Former TRADA Chairman Terence Mallinson has passed away
TRADA is sorry to announce that Terence Mallinson, a long and passionate supporter of the UK timber industry, passed away in December.
Terence, who served as chairman of TRADA (1976–1978), was also president of the Institute of Carpenters, president of the Timber Trade Federation, president of the former Institute of Wood Science, founder of the Forest Education initiative, and helped develop the Carpenters’ Awards (which later became the Wood Awards).
Chris Gill, former TRADA Chief Executive, said: ‘The Mallinson family was very much involved in the founding of TRADA's forerunner in 1934, the Timber Development Association. Terence maintained this connection, serving on a number of TRADA committees over the years. His working life spanned a period of huge change and consolidation in the timber industry and this experience, combined with his involvement in several key initiatives in which TRADA was very active, enabled him to help TRADA with wise counsel and effective connections.’
Mr Mallinson is survived by his wife Anne, and family Lawrence, Michael, Sheila, Roland and 13 grandchildren.
A thanksgiving service will be held at St John’s Church, Hyde Park Crescent, London, on Thursday February 6 at noon.
