TTJ Awards 2016

 

 

An  innovative machine that incises round timber and coating application technology that helps protect timber were the deserved winners of last year’s TTJ Timber Innovation Award.

 

And now entries are now being sought for this year’s TTJ Timber Innovation Award, part of the annual TTJ Awards which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary with a special event at a new location.

 

TRADA and Timber Expo are again joint sponsors of the award which, for 2016, is split into two categories – Innovative Product Development and a NEW category, Innovative University Timber Research.

 

Competition in the awards for 2015 was fierce and the judges were impressed with the high standard of entries, making the achievements of Tweedle Engineering with its Excalibur R incising technology, and Arch Timber Protection for its BARamine application technologies, even more commendable.

This year’s competition is split into two categories:

 

The latter category is open to third year under graduate or postgraduate (Masters or PhD) students.

The winners of the Timber Innovation Award will benefit from an array of marketing benefits and the kudos of being the winner of an award that really pushes the boundaries in timber development. Winners will be unveiled at the prestigious TTJ Awards dinner, attended by all the major players in the industry.

Terms and conditions:

Innovative Product Development

Companies/organisations / individuals may enter this award category providing:

• They either manufacture, distribute or own the property rights to the product / system; and
• The product is fully or partially made using timber materials or assists with timber based building materials (e.g. . paints, coatings, adhesives, fixings etc); and
• The product / system meets the appropriate UK building regulation and health and safety standards; and
• The product must have been launched on to the market at the time of making this application.


Innovative University Timber Research:

Individuals may enter this award category providing:

• The university or individual owns the intellectual property rights to the research/ theories/ products or systems described under the innovative research project; and
• The research has been carried out as either 3rd year undergraduate or post graduate (Masters or PhD) work; and
• The research is complete and findings have been peer reviewed, or the research will be complete and will have been peer reviewed by 30th June 2016. The work can have been undertaken in previous academic years providing it hasn’t been previously submitted.


TimeScale:

Entries to be received no later than 30th June 2016.
Shortlisting to be complete by 19th July 2016.
Shortlisted entrants to present their application to a panel in High Wycombe on 23th August 2016.
The winners will be announced at the prestigious 20th annual TTJ Awards dinner, held this year at the Brewery (Barbican) on 30th September 2016.
