15 November 2018

The Better Timber Buildings conference

Location: London
Time: 9am - 4.30pm
Organiser: TRADA in partnership with Exova BM TRADA
Venue: The Royal Geographical Society

TRADA is excited to introduce Better Timber Buildings, a stimulating one-day conference focused on inspiring and improving timber’s competitive advantage by learning from our collective experience. Set aside 15 November 2018 and join us at the Royal Geographical Society in the heart of London for a day of talks, Q&As, and energetic discussion.

At the conference, you will:

  • hear from Arup about the inspirational Macallan Distillery, arguably one of the most complex timber structures ever built in the UK;
  • examine various design guides, collated from decades of experience, innovation and all the wisdom that entails, that are currently available to the timber industry – sometimes for free;
  • consider well-rounded, practical solutions to many issues that affect the timber industry, such as excessive moisture intake during construction, all of which are designed to be applied throughout the chain;
  • learn how to correctly design timber structures in relation to fire safety and durability; and
  • discover how to learn from history – both successes and mistakes – via reports from home warranty and insurance providers, and quantity surveyors.

All sessions are designed with the idea of pushing our collective wisdom forward, thus all sessions are designed to empower each individual participating, regardless of role.

TRADA members and early bird bookings receive discounts. Please see the table below for further information. All attendees will receive a printed copy of the NSTS, which retails for £32.
