Rob Foster is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He was formerly a Senior Lecturer with the Centre for Future Timber Structures at the University of Queensland and a post-doctoral researcher with the Centre for Natural Material Innovation at the University of Cambridge.

Rob’s work explores the role that timber can play in helping meet the needs of a rapidly growing global population while maintaining the quality of the natural world around us. He is particularly interested in the use of timber for lightweighting and vertical extension of existing buildings, and for the design of better tall buildings and urban infrastructure. Rob is Co-chair of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat working group on Tall Timber.
