One day in-house workshop

Timber frame methods have been used successfully for centuries. Nowadays with increasing requirements on energy standards, skills shortages on site and many other reasons besides, people are increasingly looking to timber frame for the solution.

This one-day course introduces the concepts behind modern timber frame construction and provides an overview of the building practices used. The course highlights aspects of design detail which enable timber frame to achieve high levels of building performance in comparison with other methods of construction.

This course is aimed at those new to timber frame construction.

  • Features, benefits and limitations of modern timber frame buildings
  • Market position and manufacturing options
  • Timber frame systems

Constructional details:

  • Control of moisture content
  • Thermal and acoustic performance
  • Vapour resistance and movement

Site practice:

  • Material delivery, storage and handling
  • Foundations and sole plates
  • Frame erection
  • Follow on trades and handling on-site
  • Case study: TF2000
  • Acoustic, thermal and fire performance

Each one day workshop will focus on your organisation's particular discipline to broaden your knowledge and practical skills.

Cost

£1595 + VAT for a one day in-house workshop.

The cost includes: preparation, hire of presentation equipment, delegate packs, a copy of TRADA's Timber Frame Construction manual and trainer's expenses, but excludes any catering and venue costs.
