Duration
Start Date: March 2002
Finish Date: June 2004
Background

Current proposed changes to the thermal regulations for buildings are only the start and all the indications are that even more stringent requirements will be introduced over the next decade.

Project Aim

This project looks forward to the next generation of improvements to Part L for England and Wales and Part J of the Technical Standards (Scotland). It will review overseas and UK proposed ‘ultra- low energy’ details to adapt and design and publish robust timber frame details appropriate to the UK industry and climate. Construction details to meet higher standards of energy efficiency and air sealing will be developed, resolving potential risks of condensation and air quality before they become issues.
