Background

‘Developing and motivating staff’ and ‘Improving the skill base of people’ have been identified as the most important issues for affecting commercial challenge in the timber sector. Providing training via the internet, with the added benefit of tutor/mentor support, reduces costs, saves time and provides easy access to learning resources.

Project Aim
The primary aim of this project is to develop effective internet-based Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the timber industry and to develop the use of the internet for online training courses and mentoring relationships. The range of options for companies and employees will be increased through the availability of the service in or out of working hours, at home or at work.
