Most loadbearing elements have some form of service penetration into or through them. This report presents the results of reduced-scale fire resistance tests to BS 476-22 on timber frame external and internal walls and intermediate floors of 30 and 60 minute fire resistance and a 60 minute compartment floor. Penetrations included electrical socket outlets and switch boxes, copper and plastic pipes, ceiling light drops and downlighters.
