Timber engineering hardware is the generic term given to fasteners and connection systems which may be used to join solid timber and / or engineered wood products. Both types of product must have their performance characteristics quantified before they can be used.
Using all supporting qualification and quality control data supplied by the manufacturer, we can devise a detailed testing and assessment plan. We use relevant guidance from British and European standards together with other documents such as European Technical Approval Guidelines (ETAG), to assist us in formulating the test programme.
We use test data and existing design information to calculate permissible stresses and moduli appropriate for use with UK structural design code BS 5268. We can also derive characteristic values for use with Eurocode design procedures.
BM TRADA (TRADA Technology's sister company) operates Q-Mark product certification schemes and CE marking for timber engineering hardware products.
Where certified products are made or installed by a member of TRADA, their details are listed in the suppliers directory.
