- Reconnaissance of demonstration bridge site
- Provision of guidance on overall engineering design and materials/equipment specifications
- Identification of appropriate pressure treatment technology
- Training of engineers and technicians in preservative treatment techniques
- Identification of suitable timber species· Procurement of equipment
- Supervision of and training in bridge component manufacture
Outputs
- Construction of gabion abutments using direct labour
- Erection of demonstration bridge (as contractor)
- Production of fully illustrated construction manuals
- Preparation of a report identifying scope for future development of bridge system for feeder road network improvement
