Chiltern Fire (TRADA Technology's sister company) performs over 300 tests on fire doors every year, making it the leading UK fire laboratory for the fire door industry.
Testing can be undertaken to BS EN 1634-1, BS 476: Pt 22 and ISO 3008, as well as intumescent seal testing to BS 476: Pt 23.
All fire doors sold in the UK need to demonstrate proven fire resistance performance through one or more of the following means:
Chiltern Fire has UKAS accreditation for all its full-scale fire resistance test activities, guaranteeing accuracy and independence.
BM TRADA's (TRADA Technology sister company) Q-Mark fire door schemes are designed to give confidence that certified products will work in the event of a fire. The original scheme for manufacturers was set up over 20 years ago, making it the longest established scheme in the UK.
The schemes bring together the activities of:
- Door blank manufacturers
- Joinery manufacturers / fabricators
- Fire door installers
Where all or part of the process of manufacturing and installing a fire resistant doorset is covered under the Q-Mark scheme, the product is marked with one or more distinctive 'tree' shaped plugs.
Where certified products are made or installed by a member of TRADA, their details are listed in the suppliers directory.
