Standard details for timber frame buildings
Complete our survey to win one of five free copies
In response to requests from designers, contractors, housing providers and manufacturers, TRADA is in the process of developing a set of authoritative, comprehensive and independent standard details for timber frame buildings. The TRADA publication, Timber Frame Construction, is regarded by many in the timber frame and wider construction industry as the ’bible’ on this topic. The book is a design guide and although well illustrated, its drawings are not intended to serve as standard details. The new Standard Details for Timber Frame Buildings will complement the book and aim to save designers working on timber frame buildings days, and probably weeks, of research and checking. The details will cover conventional open panel timber frame construction using 140mm studs for external walls specifically for low rise (1-3 storeys) dwellings (houses and flats). Many of the details will also be applicable for use in medium rise buildings. A separate section will consider material specifications and provide a generic fixing schedule. List of details There are currently 73 Standard Details proposed, click here to see a full list. Survey To register interest and to ensure the publication format suits your needs, please complete our very simple survey. Those who do so will be entered into a prize draw to receive one of five free copies of Standard Details for Timber Frame Buildings. Click here to take part in the survey.
