Essential timber frame standard details for single occupancy detached, semi-detached and terraced houses now online

Saving countless hours of detail design, Essential Timber Frame Standard Details (for single occupancy detached, semi-detached and terraced houses) contains 32 of the most commonly-used drawings from TRADA Technology's book and CD Timber Frame: Standard Details for Houses and Flats in a ready-to-use electronic format.

This downloadable application is appropriate for low-rise buildings (up to three storeys) with concrete ground floors. It provides typical details for ‘open' panel timber frame wall panels constructed using:

  • 140mm x 38mm timber studs and rails
  • 9mm or 12mm oriented strand board or plywood sheathing
  • breather membrane on the outer surface of the sheathing
  • mineral wool insulation between the studs
  • a polyethylene vapour control layer on the ‘warm' side of the insulation
  • plasterboard as the internal lining surface.

The drawings are in DWG (AutoCAD 2005) and PDF (Acrobat 6) formats, offering flexibility of use for designers. Mac versions of the DWG files are available on request. All drawings are based on the Building Regulations for England and Wales in 2006.

Users remain solely responsible for checking that all current regulatory requirements are met and these details are not a substitute for the exercise of professional judgement.

This new electronic publication (a self extracting package of PDFs and drawing files) is priced at £190 + VAT (£95 + VAT to TRADA members).  To place an order or for further information contact the publications team on 01494 569602/
