TRADA is staging a new seminar, Recycling Historic Buildings, in the beautifully converted Dean Clough Mill in Halifax on 16th April 2008.
The programme has been devised by Dr John Williams, recently appointed Business Development Manager of the Site-based Services division of TRADA Technology Ltd. He said, ‘The UK's historic buildings form part of our national treasure and our built environment. Given that ‘sustainability' is one of the main buzzwords climbing the construction industry agenda, what better act of recycling is there than re-using and regenerating existing buildings and materials?'
The day's programme - including a guided tour of Dean Clough Mill - will present some of the challenges and solutions that developing these buildings can unearth, he added. ‘We are aiming to give practical advice, to help project managers avoid delay to the critical path of developments and to give delegates an understanding of how significant cost savings can be achieved, for example by keeping interventions to a minimum and reusing materials wherever possible.'
