No CE mark – no market webinar
BM TRADA Certification's new webinar will discuss the latest issues surrounding CE marking. David Payne, Product Certification Manager of BM TRADA Certification will give the FREE one-hour presentation focusing on the timber industry, which will take place on May 22nd. He will examine the CPR, why CE marking is so important, the process to achieve CE marking and what happens next.
Until now, CE marking has been voluntary for timber products sold in the UK. But when the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) comes into force next year, it will become mandatory, where there is a harmonised technical specification; companies will need to understand the reasons behind it - and the implications if it is not done.
These issues will form the basis of a new BM TRADA Certification webinar aimed at anyone involved in the timber and construction industries.
CE marking is essentially a ‘passport' that allows goods to pass freely throughout Europe without manufacturers having to carryout further testing or certification in order to prove that their products meet the legal requirements in each member state.
Under the CPR, the whole supply and distribution chain must take responsibility, which means that not only manufacturers but importers and distributors need to be aware of any essential
characteristics or specific requirements of member states.
In order to affix the CE mark to a product, the manufacturer has to perform certain tasks, defined in the ‘harmonised' Euro standard (hEN) or European Technical Approval (ETA).
Some of the tasks must be performed by a Notified Body (NB). NBs are either certification bodies (such as BM TRADA Certification) or testing laboratories (such as TRADA Technology.).
David Payne, Product Certification Manager of BM TRADA Certification will give the FREE one-hour presentation focusing on the timber industry, which will take place at lunch time on Tuesday 22nd May 2012.
He will examine the CPR, why CE marking is so important, the process to achieve CE marking and what happens next.
BM TRADA Certification will be hosting two more webinars later this year, one focusing on fasteners and connections and the other on steel products in construction. Further details of these will follow in due course.
