TRADA Technology is continuing with its programme of workshops to assist engineers come to grips with Eurocode 5. On 28th September it will stage a further introductory workshop, to help delegates understand the performance of timber structures in their end environment
And on 19th October, to address one of the most detailed yet frequently misunderstood aspects of EC5, it will stage a connections workshop aimed at engineers, ideally but not necessarily with design experience of timber structures. Senior Structural Engineer Dr Keerthi Ranasinghe said, ‘Connections pose a unique challenge for designers. EC5 requires the designer to be competent in performing lengthy calculations to get the member sizing, fastener sizing and arrangements right.'
The cost is as follows:
Introductory workshop - £199 + VAT (TRADA members ) and £259 + VAT (non-members), to include a free copy of the Manual for design of timber structures to Eurocode 5 and accompanying CD-ROM, a joint publication by TRADA and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). Printed worked examples will also be distributed free of charged.
Connections workshop - £199 + VAT (TRADA members) and £259 + VAT (non-members) to include two months' free access to TRADA's new EC5 connections software.
Although it is not necessary to attend the introductory workshop before attending the connections event, a saving of up to 30% is offered if both workshops are booked together - £278 + VAT (TRADA members ) and £399 + VAT (non-members). CPD certificates will be issued to all delegates.
