NEW feature: Timber Solutions – external walkways
 TRADA has launched a new feature on the website, ‘Timber Solutions', using case studies to focus on a particular building or design element and to suggest solutions to design challenges. Using a real example, TRADA will discuss the issues to consider when seeking to achieve a successful design detail, in terms of aesthetics, durability and functionality.
The first Timber Solutions case study, now on the website, features the European oak external walkways and stairs of the Oxo Tower redevelopment, Southbank, London. It goes into considerable detail on how challenges such as durability, weathering, preventing slipping and minimising cleaning/maintenance were met.
Chief Executive Andrew Abbott said, ‘These new focused case studies are not intended to give comprehensive guidance, but are a good "starter for 10", explaining how one member, in our opinion, solved a problem well. Our aim is to address subject areas where there is a demand for guidance, judging from the calls we receive on the TRADA telephone helpline.'
