NBS publishes extract from anniversary publication
A technical extract from TRADA's inspirational publication Timber in contemporary architecture - a designer's guide has been selected to feature in the NBS (National Building Specification) newsletter in January, going out to 9,000 construction industry professionals. Written by leading experts in timber architecture and engineering Peter Ross, Giles Downes and Andrew Lawrence, the publication is co-branded by RIBA Publishing.
NBS produces specification products in building construction, engineering services and landscape design, including the recognised national standard specification and since 2005 has published the Building Regulations Approved Documents for England and Wales. To view the extract click here
The beautifully illustrated book is a celebration of timber and its contemporary uses for designers, combining sound technical expertise with eye-catching concepts. It includes more than 300 photographs and drawings.
Timber in contemporary architecture investigates materials, connections and applications. The selected case studies are excellent examples of timber in use - including the award- winning Savill Garden Visitor Centre in Windsor Great Park and the nine-storey Murray Grove town house. Timber features, too, in wide span structures such as supermarkets and sports centres, and in both affordable and bespoke housing.
The cost is £40.00 plus P&P to TRADA members and £55.00 plus P&P to non-members. To order visit http://www.trada.co.uk/bookshop/ or telephone 01494 569602.
