Description
Wood-based panels used for permanent incorporation in 'construction works' now have to meet the requirements of the Construction Products Directive. The easiest way for a designer or specifier to ensure that the product he is selecting meets with the law is to specify a product that carries a CE mark in line with the requirements of BS EN 13986.
This Wood Information Sheet lists the types and grades of panel designated as suitable for structural use; this includes fibreboards, OSB, particleboards, plywoods and solid wood panels. It outlines the properties that must be tested and those where standard values may be used. Design aspects are included along with a checklist for correct specification. Finally and importantly three example specifications, together with notes on purchasing and an explanation of the requirements are given. |
