Description

Modern methods of timber frame construction were introduced into the Uk in the 1960s and are a fully accepted method of building. This sheet outlines the method of construction generally used in the UK; platform frame. Factory manufactured 'open' panels are craned onto a 'platform' formed by the foundations and sole plate. The panels are fixed into position and floors are installed to create another platform. The process can be repeated to create a building of the required design height. The final part of the erection process is to position and fix the roof. Buildings of up to six storeys are becoming quite widely used in England and Wales.
